"OMS Foundations" Training Course

Understand the fundamentals and challenges of omnichannel retailing. This technical and functional training course is offered by Kbrw, a software publisher specializing in order orchestration. It aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the tools used to manage unified commerce.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  • Align Sales and Logistics: Understand how the OMS bridges the gap between customer experience and operational reality.

  • Understand the mission of the Kbrw OMS: Master the tool’s role as a bridge between customer experience and logistics reality.

  • Manage inventory availability: Know how to calculate virtual inventory by channel, and distinguishing between physical inventory and available inventory.

 

 

  • Ensuring delivery commitments: Coordinate all aspects of the process (dates, carriers, logistics) to provide customers with a reliable delivery commitment.

  • Coordinate order fulfillment: Manage the entire order lifecycle, from preparation to final delivery.

Training Program

Chapter 1: OMS Structure and Mission

  • The dual mission: Ensuring pre-sales commitments and coordinating post-sales execution.
  • Software structure: Overview of the three key services: Enhanced Inventory (Stock), Enhanced Availability (Promise), and Enhanced Execution (Order).
  • Standardizing differentiation: Understanding the integration between the iHub foundation, business libraries ("Lego"), and project-specific code.

Chapter 2: Enhanced Inventory (Inventory Management)

  • WMS vs.OMS Philosophy: Managing actual warehouse inventory vs. the SKU-location grid for sales.
  • Reservation Mechanics: Using reservations (shopping carts or orders) to secure inventory and prevent overselling.
  • Counters and Strategies: Managing statuses (Physical, Allocated, Transit) and defining calculation formulas by channel (B2B, B2C, Quotas).

Chapter 3: Enhanced Availability (Customer Promise)

  • Customer Journey: Distinction between ATS (Available-to-Sell) for display and ATP (Available-to-Promise) for delivery date estimates.
  • Calculation Workflow: The 5 steps to determine the optimal shipping point (Fulfill, Filter, Shipping Method, Lead Time, Sort).
  • Orchestration: Manage multi-product carts by deciding between splitting packages (Split) and consolidating them (Consolidation).

Chapter 4: Enhanced Execution (Command Control)

  • Transactional Workflow: Track an order through its key statuses (Approved, In Preparation, Shipped, Delivered).
  • Logistics Objects: Distinction between the Order (contract), the Picking (warehouse/store), and the Package (carrier).
  • Backorder Management: Automatic processing of orders awaiting stock during supplier receipts.
